Before we get into your work, can you just tell us a little bit about yourself?
My name is Valentin Elias Renner, I’m 27 years old and I live in Hamburg. Before becoming a full-time artist, I worked a variety of different jobs. Today, I’m fortunate enough to live from my art, which has always been my dream.
We are curious about your past and your style. When did you get started with art, what are your preferred topics and how would you describe your style?
Art has been part of my life for as long as I can remember. As a child, I dreamed of becoming an explorer, sailing around the world, discovering new places, and naming animals. When I realized that most of the world had already been explored, I started creating my own worlds through art.
In 2016, inspired by my travels and my fascination with maps, I created an interactive world map using nails and thread. A few years later, in 2019, I created my first major artwork, The Alchemist. Since then, my style has evolved into different series, each exploring its own ideas and themes.
Can you briefly explain what your designs are about and what message you want to convey with your designs for maezen.
The designs we created for maezen are based on my Prisma series. For me, this series is about connection, trust, and energy. It reflects the idea that no matter where you start, it’s important to trust your path, accept detours, and not compare your journey to anyone else’s. Life is not a race. If you move forward with good energy and stay true to yourself, you’ll eventually reach your destination.
Last question, is there one thing which is important to you that you would like to share with our community?
Believe in your dreams and work for them. Be kind to one another, look out for each other, and spread love wherever you can. The world always needs more of it.
