"I've always been into painting, always had the desire to create something. As a child, I was heavily inspired by fashion design, but for the past 8-9 years, I've been doing graphic design.
I do a lot of different things. I paint pictures all day, my sketchbook is always with me wherever I go. Sometimes I paint on canvases too. Last year, my friends gave me a tufting gun, and now I make all sorts of carpets with it. I'm also part of CATISM, a creative collective I started with my best friends. We do a variety of things there, mainly wall paintings and music videos. And then I also do design work, a bit of 3D, some typography stuff. So far, that has been the most successful. However, all my energy goes into painting. I enjoy everything equally and I'm down for anything, I just need some variety in between. It's about being curious, trying things even if you're not skilled at them. Maybe it works out, maybe it doesn't, but you won't know until you try. Just go through life with ease, explore things you like, get better at them, and if something doesn't click, well, then it doesn't haha. That's why I constantly try new things, to come up with my own ideas and grow. Design and art are very different for me. I can't do the same thing every day. That's why it's really hard for me to paint for 2-3 consecutive days, I always need something else in between to do.
Painting has always been a personal happening for me, and suddenly I see my paintings on shirts and hoodies. But for me, it's not about the finished image, it doesn't really matter in the end. It was just enjoyable to create it. I see the process behind it, the memories of good times. It's like keeping a diary. I see the moments I've experienced, the mood, the friends who were there, whatever. Like this time with Maezen, when we were in Portugal and my collection took shape. The stories behind it, the behind-the-scenes of the finished embroidered shirt. I never really had a plan.
I've always done what I enjoy and what I feel like doing. Having an easy-going attitude has brought me to where I am now, and hopefully, it will take me much further. There's still a child inside me, running around and smelling flowers in the grass. That will always be the case, and it's important too."
