Artist Blog | Jasmin Hadrany x maezen
Before we get into your work, can you just tell us a little bit about yourself?

I’m a 24-year old artist living in Vienna and I love to mix different materials in my work.

We are curious about your past and your style. When did you get started with art, what are your preferred topics and how would you describe your style?

I always loved to paint, I grew up with it. In the last couple of years, I started to focus more on art as I noticed how it helps me to get away from everyday life. One year ago I decided to share my work publicly.

Throughout the years, I worked on the same topics in different settings, which is the human body. I started by drawing and sketching a lot of people and over time, I worked more freely, interpreting the human body in my own way.

My style is simple and aesthetic, soft and detached from reality. It’s figurative and abstract at the same time.

To be part of our project, we asked each artist to address certain issues in their designs that we should all think about more often. Can you briefly explain what your designs are about and what message you want to convey with your designs for maezen?

My goal is to reinterpret the nude in a modern way. I feel like even today, nudity is often seen as something that should not be displayed and goes through a lot of censoring on social media. By reshaping the nude itself, I want to make it something people see as beautiful, aesthetic and would love to have in their homes. Through my art I am trying to open a new discussion about this topic.

This series is dedicated to the topic of sleeping problems and is something I worked on in the last couple of months. As I always had struggles with my sleep and it got to a peak in 2021, I decided to work on this topic in a series of artworks and look at those problems from an artistic perspective. A lot of my pieces were created during those sleepless nights.

Last question. Is there one thing which is important to you that you would like to share with our community?

See the beauty in the human body and find some inspiration in my work!
